History and Skills

Most of what I know regarding Art is gleaned from Baltimore City Public Schools. I was lucky in that, despite budgetary constraints, I always managed to get competent Art and Music teachers. This is especially true of my Middle and High School years. If I hadn’t the exposure I did then to Art and Music, I might have completely lost interest in both.

Thankfully, I lucked out and had cool teachers. Thank you Mr. Levenson, Mr. Sample, Mr. Johnson, Ms. Sheedy, Mrs. Thomspon-Conway, Mr. Ellis, Mr. Geiger, Mr. Carter, and Mrs. Ball for doing the best you could with the least BCPS would give you.

Beyond that, as any child of PBS, I had a good deal of exposure to Bob Ross and the various other Arts programs found on Public Television. From Music to Writing to Storytelling, the good people of various PBS stations around the country as shown via MPT aided in ensuring a well rounded multifaceted educational exposure to a wide array of Artistic influences.

To this day, I am grateful that PBS came into existence because, without it, I might be a completely different person and most probably not someone the person I am now would like very much.

As of the present, I have some knowledge of:

Knitting, Painting, Writing, and Public Speaking. With the exception of Knitting, these are pretty much the basics everyone picks up in Pre-K through 12 schools.

With regards to Knitting, I learned how to do it at Baltimore County Public Library – Catonsville in June of 2006. As of the present, I can do basic patterns with a few embellishments and I am working towards learning new skills on a daily basis. As the Library is such a great free resource of learning, I often go to the various branches closest to me to learn more via reading and classes.

In addition to Knitting and the basics I learned in school, I also have some experience with Horticulture. It was my Shop Major in High School and I still have a great fondness for it.

To me, everyday is a new day to learn more new things. I do my level best to live up to this mantra.
